Experience
I am currently in my 6th year as a certified special education teacher. I worked one year at High Road School in Anne Arundel County, a school for students with significant behaviors. For the past five years, I have worked at a middle school in Howard County, MD. As a special education teacher, I have taught or co-taught: ALS (academic life skills - students with significant disabilities), 7th grade math, 8th grade math (Pre-Algebra/CC8), 8th grade Science, 7th and 8th grade English, and 7th and 8th grade social studies/US History. I have also taught two sessions of ESY (extended school year), working with small groups of students with autism. I love teaching and coaching. In addition to my teaching experience, I coached Special Olympics Flag Football in Baltimore County for four years, and am looking to get back into coaching soon. My teaching experience has consistently been with students who have difficulties learning. As a result, I have a natural ability to work one-on-one with students who require pre-teaching, re-teaching, skill building, and the development of overall academic confidence. I am easygoing, able to engage a wide variety of students, all while maintaining high expectations from my students.
