Experience
I hold an associate degree in liberal arts and sciences, a bachelor's in liberal studies, and a master's degree in reading and literacy. After completing my master's program at Walden University, I received my teacher's certification and began working as a teacher. I'm certified to teach all subjects in kindergarten and elementary school, math and sciences from 4th to 9th grade, and history to high school students. My teaching experience has allowed me to teach a number of different classes in elementary and middle school. Along with working as a teacher, I've also tutored students privately on a one-on-one basis in everything from math, science, reading, and writing. I believe that the best way to motivate a student is to teach them in a way that they can relate to. This requires building a rapport with them and learning their interests, strengths, and weaknesses, so that you're able to customize your lessons accordingly. I also believe that a good education is more than test prep and memorization; it's also about being able to practically apply classroom knowledge outside the classroom. As a tutor, I strive to help students not only make good grades, but prepare them for success once they enter college and the professional world.
